Arijit Singh’s song Aar Kobe has been an integral part of the ongoing protest movements against the heinous rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, on August 9. His fans were wondering when Arijit would be vocal. Then Arijit came on live from a fan page and released the song. The song became the voice of the movement that shook the city.
Now, some of the protesters have gone to Arijit Singh’s house in Jiaganj with guitar and ukulele. They sang the song in front of his house. Director Pratim D Gupta shared the scene on social media and it became viral.
Previously, ruling party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh teased Arijit for making the song. He commented on X-handle, “Arijit Singh is an awesome singer and a good boy. The song seeking justice for Tilottama is apt and I support it. But the problem is, the conscience wakes up only in Bengal. No songs are made about Badlapur in Maharashtra, or about Sakshi Malik. Is it because that is the main workplace and there are issues of money, work, and career? Hence the silence?”
Arijit left Twitter then. However, there is some confusion, too. It was heard that Arijit was using a profile named ‘WhoamI’. After Kunal’s comment, the account vanished. There are questions about whether that account belonged to Arijit. He has not yet made any comment from his official account.
