Actor R Madhavan has cultivated a loyal female fan base; however, his wife, Sarita Birje, occasionally finds this attention overwhelming. In a candid revelation, Madhavan shared that his wife has encouraged him to act his age.

R Madhavan’s confession

In a discussion with Filmfare Middle East, Madhavan reflected on his relationship with his wife and her reactions to his considerable female following. When asked if his wife ever felt uncomfortable with the admiration he receives, he responded, “She must have. I became a proper film actor after getting married. By the time Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, which marked my Bollywood debut, was released, I was already married. Therefore, she has witnessed my rise in popularity firsthand.”

He continued, “Moreover, she is a great admirer of Shah Rukh Khan. Her excitement is palpable when she sees him, which allows her to empathize with the feelings of fans when they encounter their idols. As a result, she has been quite understanding. At times, I sense her contemplating, ‘Isn’t this becoming excessive?’ Recently, she has also suggested that I refrain from posting so many pictures on Instagram and to start acting in a manner befitting my age. I don’t believe she is jealous; rather, I think she is correct and desires for me to conduct myself appropriately for my age.”

The Tanu Weds Manu actor also addressed the difficulties faced by the spouses of male actors, emphasizing that every actor should cherish and respect their partner.

About the couple

Madhavan and Sarita were in a relationship for eight years before marrying in 1999. They have a teenage son, Vedant, who is an accomplished swimmer.

On the professional front, Madhavan was last featured in Hisaab Barabar, which delves into bank fraud. He has several upcoming projects in both Tamil and Hindi cinema. In Tamil, he will appear in Adhirshtasaali and Test, while in Hindi, he is set to star in Amriki Pandit, De De Pyaar De 2, Kesari Chapter 2, and Dhurandhar.
