R Madhavan captivated audiences with his portrayal of a villain in the horror drama Shaitaan. As he prepares for his upcoming project, Hisaab Barabar, the actor recently shared in an interview with SCREEN that he experiences significant anxiety on the first day of a film's release or during its promotional activities.

R Madhavan on 2 most horrifying moments of his career

When questioned about the liberating nature of OTT platforms, given the lack of box office pressure, R Madhavan remarked, “I am grateful for that. My nerves intensify as the release date approaches. In fact, the two most distressing moments in my career are the first day of shooting—where the challenges seem to escalate—and the first day of publicity and release, as I feel the scrutiny of everyone watching, thinking, ‘Nope, you’ve lost it; that’s it, game over.’”

He also expressed his appreciation for continuing to secure lead roles after 25 years in the industry, stating, “Surviving for 25 years in this field, where many become irrelevant in just 25 months, is no small feat. I am truly thankful to still be playing leading roles. The encouragement I receive from others motivates me; without it, I might have lost my way by now.”

R Madhavan's upcoming projects

Madhavan will soon star in the satirical thriller Hisaab Barabar, directed by Ashwani Dhir. The film features Kirti Kulhari, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Rashami Desai, and Faisal Rashid in significant roles. Madhavan will take on the role of an honest ticket checker for Indian Railways, who uncovers a substantial financial fraud led by banker Mickey Mehta, portrayed by Neil Nitin Mukesh. This thriller drama is scheduled to premiere on Zee5 on January 24.

Additionally, Madhavan is involved in Karan Johar's untitled biopic on C. Sankaran Nair. He will share the screen with Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday in this film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Dharma Productions in collaboration with Leo Media Collective. The film is based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire, authored by Raghu.
