Allu Arjun expressed his appreciation for the thoughtful recognition from Yash Raj Films, acknowledging that his Telugu action thriller, Pushpa 2: The Rule, has surpassed the box office performance of the earlier successful film, Siddharth Anand's spy thriller Pathaan, featuring Shah Rukh Khan. In response to YRF's social media mention of him and Pushpa, Arjun reciprocated the gesture.
YRF, Allu Arjun's X exchange
The official X account of Yash Raj Films shared a message on Monday evening stating, “Records are established to be surpassed, and new achievements inspire everyone to strive for excellence. Congratulations to the entire #Pushpa2TheRule team for making history. Not just a fire, but a wildfire!!!!” The account also mentioned lead actors Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, director Sukumar, and production company Mythri Movie Makers in its post.
In response, Arjun expressed his gratitude to X, saying, “Thank you … so gracious. I am humbled by your kind wishes. I appreciate it, and I am truly touched. May this record soon be surpassed by a heartwarming #YRF film, and may we all continue to pursue excellence together.” Numerous users on X took to the comments to speculate whether YRF is considering Allu Arjun for a major Bollywood project.
Pushpa 2 beats Pathaan
Out of the ₹543.09 crore that Pathaan garnered at the Indian box office, a significant portion—₹524.53 crore—was derived from the Hindi market. As of its 19th-day post-release, Pushpa 2 has reached a total of ₹1074.85 crore, with ₹689.4 crore attributed to the Hindi dubbed version. Notably, on its opening day earlier this month, Pushpa 2 surpassed Pathaan by earning ₹70.3 crore in the Hindi market, exceeding Pathaan's ₹55 crore by over ₹15 crore.
Pathaan is part of Aditya Chopra's YRF Spy Universe, which also includes the War and Tiger franchises, as well as Shiv Rawail's forthcoming film Alpha, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. The success of Pathaan marked a triumphant return for Shah Rukh Khan to the box office after a hiatus of more than four years, following the disappointing performance of Aanand L Rai's 2018 film Zero.
