Additional footage from the arrest featured Arjun wearing a shirt promoting Pushpa 2. Subsequently, he was transported to the Chikkadpally police station in Hyderabad, where visuals captured him in the Pushpa 2 shirt. While some fans questioned the rationale behind arresting a celebrity in connection with a fan's death linked to his film, others found humour in Arjun donning film merchandise during such a tense moment. "Priorities are correct," remarked one fan. Nonetheless, it remained uncertain whether the change of clothing was intentional or coincidental.
Why is Allu Arjun under arrest?
On Friday morning, officials from the Hyderabad Police arrived at Allu Arjun's residence in Jubilee Hills and took him into custody. He was subsequently transported to the police station for questioning, as stated by the authorities. The actor is now being taken to Osmania General Hospital for a medical examination prior to his appearance in court.
The incident leading to Arjun's arrest occurred on the night of December 4, when a large gathering of fans assembled at the Sandhya Theatre near RTC Crossroads to see the actor. The victim has been identified as Revathi, according to police reports. She was accompanied by her son, Sri Teja, who also experienced suffocation and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital, where he is recovering.
Authorities indicated that a case has been filed against the actor, his security personnel, and the theatre management following a complaint from the family of the deceased.
On Wednesday, Allu Arjun submitted a petition to the High Court seeking to quash the FIR and requested a stay on all subsequent proceedings, including his arrest, until the petition is resolved. The High Court is anticipated to hear the case in the coming days. The actor had previously announced a financial contribution of ₹25 lakh to support the family of the deceased woman.
