Following Dhanush's issuance of a notice to Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan, and the streaming service Netflix India, in which he sought ₹10 crore for the unauthorized use of footage from his 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, reports surfaced indicating that Sivaji Productions, the company responsible for the 2005 film Chandramukhi featuring Nayanthara, also requested ₹5 crore from her for the inclusion of footage in her documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. However, the production house has since clarified that Nayanthara did secure a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for this usage.

Sivaji Productions' clarification

Manobala Vijayabalan, a tracker of the Tamil film industry, recently utilized his X account to share the No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by Sivaji Productions to actress Nayanthara. The document stated, "This is to certify that Sivaji Productions has no objection to the use of the following footage in the Netflix documentary 'Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale.' The specific time stamps from the film Chandramukhi are provided below.

Additionally, it confirmed that Rowdy Pictures has been granted the rights to use, reproduce, distribute, and/or sub-license the aforementioned video footage solely for the Netflix series titled 'Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale.' The certificate further asserted that Rowdy Pictures, along with its affiliates, licensees/sub-licensees, and assigns, shall be held harmless from any claims or disputes arising from the authorized use of the video footage as outlined in the certificate/letter.

Rowdy Pictures is co-owned by actress Nayanthara and her spouse, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan. The company produced the documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale, which premiered on Netflix India in November 2023. The NOC issued by Sivaji Productions did not reference any financial demands, dispelling the speculation that it sought ₹5 crore from Rowdy Pictures for utilizing footage from Chandramukhi in the documentary.

Nayanthara's earlier tiff with Dhanush

Nayanthara expressed her discontent towards her former co-star Dhanush for denying her request to utilize footage from her 2015 Tamil film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which he had produced. Additionally, she condemned him for issuing a legal notice that sought ₹10 crore in damages for using a three-second behind-the-scenes segment from the movie.
