Actor Priyanka Chopra's brother, Siddharth Chopra, tied the knot with Neelam Upadhyaya in Mumbai on Friday evening. The actress was present at her brother's wedding alongside her husband, Nick Jonas, and other family members. She shared several photos and videos from the event, one of which particularly captured the public's interest.

Priyanka Chopra ties gathbandhan for brother

Priyanka provided a glimpse into her brother's wedding on Instagram, captioning it, “To a lifetime of love, laughter, sunshine and happiness. #SidNee ki shaadi! @siddharthchopra89 @neelamupadhyaya.” She shared photographs she captured during the celebration featuring Siddharth and Neelam, along with her in-laws, Denise Miller-Jonas and Kevin Jonas Sr., as well as a video showcasing the family dancing at the baraat.

In one of the videos, she is seen tying the gathbandhan (also referred to as granthi bandhanam) prior to the couple taking their seven pheras. During the video, she mentions that her mother, Madhu Chopra, instructed her to tie it ‘really tight.’ Upon hearing this, she exerted her utmost effort to ensure the knot remained secure, putting all her strength into it. The actor's amusing antics while doing so elicited laughter from the bride, and even her brother could not suppress a smile.

A multitude of fans expressed their thoughts in the comments section of the video regarding the occasion. One individual remarked, “After such a long time, it feels like I am witnessing a relatable 'celebrity family' wedding. The charming way they tied the cloth knot and danced near the car, sharing candid moments just like we do, is delightful.” Another commenter stated, “Just an ordinary Indian girl celebrating her brother's wedding.” Actress Mindy Kaling also contributed, stating, “Beautiful. Congratulations to your family!”

About the wedding

Priyanka and her daughter Malti Marie travelled to India last month to participate in her brother's wedding celebrations. While Priyanka headed straight to Hyderabad, she took a brief hiatus from her professional commitments and arrived in Mumbai earlier this week, just in time for the haldi, mehendi, and sangeet ceremonies. Although Nick was unable to attend some of the wedding events, he made it in time for the sangeet and the wedding itself. Additionally, Priyanka's cousins, Mannara Chopra and Parineeti Chopra, were present at the wedding on Friday.
