Priyanka Chopra is gearing up to return to Indian films with SS Rajamouli's SSMB 29, as her mom, Madhu Chopra, shared in an interview with Lehren Retro. Madhu also reminisced about how Priyanka organized a birthday bash for her right after her dad passed away, and John Abraham made a special appearance to surprise her.

Madhu shared that Priyanka was adamant about throwing a birthday party for her just six days after her husband passed away. She reminisced, “He died on June 10, and my birthday is on June 16. I was turning 60, and they had planned a big celebration for me. The whole family was already gathered because of his illness. After he passed, we were all in mourning, but Priyanka insisted we go through with the party and told everyone to stick around. She said, ‘That’s what Dad would have wanted.’”

Madhu also mentioned her admiration for John Abraham, recalling, “They had asked John to show up at midnight, all wrapped up like a birthday gift. Can you believe that? Priyanka insisted, ‘No, Mum needs her moment.’ The party was a blast with a DJ and music. But some family members were sitting there looking all sad, saying, ‘Look at her! She’s dancing! Doesn’t she miss her husband?’ Meanwhile, I was thinking, ‘My daughter organized all this; my kids worked so hard. They’re all hurting, but this is how she’s honoring her dad.’ Priyanka even said, ‘I’m fulfilling his wish, and you all need to get on board with it.' That’s just who she is.”

Madhu went on to say that John arrived wearing a bow tie and looked really cute. When asked if they took any pictures during the birthday celebration, Madhu admitted she couldn’t recall if anyone even thought to snap a photo.

Priyanka Chopra's next projects

Priyanka's upcoming project is SS Rajamouli's SSMB 29, featuring Mahesh Babu as well. This film is described as an action-adventure reminiscent of Indiana Jones and kicked off in Hyderabad back in January. On top of that, she’s got Heads of State in the works with John Cena and Idris Elba, plus the second season of the Russo Brothers' series Citadel is also on the horizon.
