Priyanka Chopra has a ton of international projects lined up, but her fans are really looking forward to her return to Indian cinema. So, when she touched down in Hyderabad on Thursday evening, it definitely got people buzzing about a potential film announcement..

Priyanka is back in India

A video of Priyanka spotted at the Hyderabad airport popped up on social media Thursday evening. In the clip, she's rocking a brown cord-set and trying to shield her face with a beige cap. She's flanked by tight security and her team as she makes her way through the airport.

There are whispers that Priyanka is in town for a possible announcement about her next Indian film. SS Rajamouli, the director behind hits like Baahubali and RRR, is reportedly looking to cast her alongside Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu. While the specifics of the project and Priyanka's character are still under wraps, this could be her comeback to Indian cinema, and specifically Telugu films, after 23 years since P Ravi Shankar's 2002 romantic drama Apuroopam.

Priyanka's most recent movie in India

Priyanka's most recent Indian film was Ramin Bahrani's The White Tiger, which hit Netflix in 2021. Before that, her last theatrical release in India was Shonali Bose's The Sky Is Pink back in 2016, making it eight years since she graced the big screen in a local cinema. She was set to star in Farhan Akhtar's buddy road trip movie Jee Le Zaraa, alongside Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif, but that project still hasn't started filming.

On the flip side, Priyanka has been a strong supporter of Indian projects abroad. She recently took on the role of executive producer for the Oscar-shortlisted film Anuja. This short film, set in New Delhi, features two-time Academy Award winner Guneet Monga and Mindy Kaling as producers and is one of the 15 films nominated in the Live Action Short category by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Next up, Priyanka will appear in Heads of State, The Bluff, Citadel season 2, and a holiday movie with the Jonas Brothers, which she just started filming in Toronto this month.
