Prithviraj Sukumaran: My house and car too are on EMI

After directing Mohanlal in the highly successful film Lucifer, Prithviraj and the actor once again collaborate for the second instalment in the film franchise, titled Empuraan. Prithviraj, who has directed Lucifer and Bro Daddy, will be making his third directorial with Empuraan.

Regarding the topic of direction, Prithviraj remarked, “My car and house are also under EMI. We all face similar challenges. I won’t pretend that I am unaware of how to manage my EMIs for the upcoming month. Taking on the role of a director for a film is, from a financial standpoint, a questionable choice for me. Directing a film of this magnitude requires a commitment of approximately two years. Consequently, I had to decline numerous acting opportunities and offers from other languages. As an actor, I earn significantly more, and I am among the better-paid actors in Kerala. However, the compensation I receive as a director does not equate to that.”

Prithviraj also mentioned that the lifestyle he became accustomed to as a successful actor necessitates financial resources, which are derived from his acting engagements.

Who all are part of Empuraan

Led by Mohanlal, Empuraan boasts an extensive ensemble cast that includes Prithviraj Sukumaran, Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Jerome Flynn, Indrajith, Kaarthikeyaa Dev, Kishore Kumar G, Suraj Venjaramood, and Fazil. The screenplay for Empuraan is crafted by Murali Gopy. The cinematography is handled by Sujith Vaassudev, with editing by Akhilesh Mohan.
