Prithviraj is the son of the late Sukumaran, a celebrated figure in Malayalam cinema during the 1970s and 1980s. Although the superstar passed away in 1997, prior to Prithviraj's entry into acting, the actor acknowledges that his surname played a significant role in his career. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, he remarked, “I secured my first film solely due to my surname. I am entirely a product of nepotism.”

Currently, Prithviraj is promoting his directorial venture, L2: Empuraan, which serves as a sequel to his 2019 hit, Lucifer. The film features Mohanlal and includes Prithviraj in a prominent cameo role. Additionally, it showcases a robust ensemble cast comprising talents from Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi cinema. Discussing the inclusion of such a diverse range of actors, Prithviraj stated, “We are in an era where entering the film industry is more accessible than ever, regardless of the medium you choose. Creating an impressive Instagram Reel today can lead to recognition, and producing a compelling podcast can spark conversations about you.”

L2: Empuraan advance booking

Empuraan is being hailed as the largest Malayalam film to date, both in terms of its production scale and budget. The film experienced an extraordinary debut at the box office when advance ticket sales commenced on Friday, selling nearly 100,000 tickets within the first hour, marking a record for any Indian film, according to reports. By the end of Friday, Empuraan had already amassed a gross of ₹5 crore from advance bookings for its opening day. With advance sales yet to begin outside of Kerala, this bodes well for the film's prospects. Empuraan is set to premiere on March 27.
