Prithviraj Reveals: The Truth Behind the Public’s Perception

Actor and filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran is known for his candidness and strong viewpoints, which have led to a widespread belief that he comes across as arrogant. He frequently asserts that his self-assurance is often mistaken for arrogance. During the promotional activities for his latest directorial venture, Empuraan, set to hit theaters on March 27, 2025, Prithviraj was asked about a prevalent misconception regarding his persona. Without hesitation, he responded that he is often misinterpreted.

Prithviraj: People think I am disrespectful

Similar to many individuals in the public eye, I often find myself misinterpreted. However, this experience is not unique to me; it is a common occurrence for anyone who is subject to public scrutiny. The audience tends to form their own assumptions and perceptions about a public figure, which frequently diverge significantly from reality, he remarked in an interview with Galatta Tamil.

Prithviraj pointed out that some people in Kerala perceive him as being quite disrespectful. "I consider myself to be a person who shows respect to my elders, fellow actors, colleagues, and those younger than me. I value mutual respect, but there are individuals who hold a different view," he noted.

Empuraan marks Prithviraj's third directorial venture, once again featuring Mohanlal in the leading role. This film serves as the second installment in a planned trilogy that commenced with the 2019 release of Lucifer. The screenplay, crafted by Murali Gopy, picks up the narrative from where Lucifer left off, delving into Stephen Nedumpally’s experiences as Khureshi Ab’raam.

Although Lucifer can stand alone and concludes in a manner that is satisfying without necessitating a sequel, Prithviraj has indicated that he has taken a bold approach with Empuraan, concluding it in a way that will leave audiences eager for the continuation of the story. He also notes that viewers who have not seen Lucifer will still be able to follow the plot of Empuraan, although they might miss some references to events from the original film.
