India's out-of-favour opener, Prithvi Shaw, was among the notable attendees at the wedding of wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's sister, Sakshi Pant. Sakshi, who boasts 202,000 followers on Instagram, is scheduled to marry businessman Ankit Chaudhary on Wednesday. The couple has been in a relationship for nine years and became engaged in January 2024 during a private ceremony in London.
Prithvi arrived in Mussoorie on Tuesday and checked into the opulent Welcome Hotel by ITC, The Savoy, which is the venue for the wedding. The right-handed opening batter shared a glimpse of his accommodations on his Instagram story, captioning it "Let's get you married," while tagging both Sakshi and Rishabh Pant.

On Tuesday evening, Prithvi shared another image featuring MS Dhoni, his spouse Sakshi, Suresh Raina, and his wife Priyanka. Dhoni and his family arrived in Dehradun that evening and were observed dancing to a popular Bollywood track alongside Pant.
Prithvi Shaw's Declining Prospects
Currently, Shaw is absent from Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad due to issues of indiscipline and a lack of form. He was part of the team that won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, accumulating 197 runs at an average of 21.88. Although he achieved a commendable strike rate of 156.34, his performance was inconsistent, with his highest score being a 49 off 26 balls during the quarter-final against Vidarbha.
In the IPL 2025 mega-auction, he went unsold despite setting a modest base price of INR 50 Lakh, as no franchise opted to bid for him. Over the past few seasons, he has struggled to secure a regular spot in Delhi's playing XI due to inconsistent performances and fitness issues. Last season, Shaw managed to score 198 runs in eight matches, averaging 24.75 with a strike rate of 163.64, including just one fifty.
Shaw made his entry into the Indian Test team in 2018 after leading India to victory in the U19 World Cup, where he made his debut with a century against the West Indies. However, his career has not progressed as anticipated since that initial success. He has represented India in only five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20I. His journey has been hindered by poor form, injuries, and disciplinary challenges, which have affected his selection. In contrast, several players who were part of his U19 World Cup team, such as Shubman Gill and Arshdeep Singh, have now become regulars in the Indian squad across multiple formats, while Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag have established themselves in T20Is.
