1 month ago | 5 Views
Actor Preity Zinta chatted about politics, her future projects, and her IPL team, Punjab Kings. She hosted an Ask Me Anything session on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday evening. During the session, she also touched on topics like actor Kangana Ranaut, AI, and social media, among other things.
Preity Zinta addresses the inquiry about the defamation lawsuit involving Rahul Gandhi
Preity said, "Today seems like a great day for a spontaneous #Pzchat! Got any chat topics in mind, or should we just keep it casual? Hit me up, I've got an hour to spare." Then someone chimed in, "When are you going to file a defamation suit against Rahul Gandhi?"
Preity responded, "I really don’t think it’s right to attack someone like that, especially since he’s not to blame for what others do. I prefer to tackle issues head-on rather than through indirect means. Plus, I have no issues with Rahul Gandhi, so let him be, and I’ll be good too (grinning face emoji)."
Preity shares whether she plans to enter the political scene
A fan commented, "You're definitely a soldier at heart, Preity! Major respect! Just wondering, do you have any plans to get into politics?" She replied, "Nope! Politics isn’t for me. I've had offers from different political parties for tickets and Rajya Sabha seats over the years, but I’ve turned them down because it’s just not my thing. Calling me a soldier isn’t too far off since I’m a soldier’s daughter and sister (grinning face emoji)."
"We army kids are a different breed. We don’t identify as North Indian, South Indian, Himachali, or Bengali. We’re simply Indians, and yeah, patriotism and national pride run deep in our veins. If you get it, you get it (star-struck emoji) Ting!" she wrapped up.
Preity shares her thoughts on politics
A tweet said, "#Pzchat Did your experiences (like being attacked by a political party) change your views on politics?" She responded, "I'm shocked at how toxic social media has gotten in India, where every comment and thought is judged politically."
She continued, "I'm not a politician and I don't care much for politics, but as an everyday person, this is really unsettling. That said, I'm not someone who's easily intimidated or pushed around, so if anyone tries to bully me, they're in for a surprise."
Recently, Preity took a jab at Congress Kerala after they claimed she handed over her social media accounts to a political party. On X, Congress Kerala also alleged that Preity had her ₹18 crore loan "written off." Preity shot back on Twitter, calling it 'fake news' and clarified that she manages her own social media.
