On December 21, Hombale Films marked two significant milestones. First up, they celebrated the 6th anniversary of KGF: Chapter 1, the film that really put them on the map. Then, they also recognized that it’s been a year since Salaar: Ceasefire, which is Prashanth Neel’s revamped take on Ugramm. With Prashanth set to unveil the next part of the Salaar story in Shourangya Parva soon, the production team snagged him for a quick chat about what fans can look forward to in the upcoming installment.

Insights from Prashanth Neel on Salaar 1 and the Future of Salaar 2

The Rivalry of Varada and Deva: A Highlight of My Writing

The story of Varada (Prithviraj Sukumaran) and Deva (Prabhas) starts off with a pure friendship, but things take a turn when they become enemies, and that's where it gets really interesting. I feel like Salaar isn't complete yet because I haven't shared the second part of the story. I'm eager to dive into that because I really want to capture that specific emotion. I believe that part, where they have to part ways and turn against each other, is some of my best writing. There's a particular moment I'm counting on to define what Salaar will ultimately be.

Distinct Dramatic Elements: Salaar 2 vs. Ugramm

Salaar 2 dives into the events that unfold between 2010 and 2017. It all kicks off in 2010, but the storyline takes a different turn compared to Ugramm. The conflict between Varada and Deva is the main reason I'm creating Salaar 2. It's not just about the success of Salaar 1 and continuing the series; that particular moment is what I really want to bring to life on screen. After that, it’s all up to the audience’s imagination, and I’m determined to keep them on their toes.

Revisiting Ugramm: A Quest to Pack the Theaters

I'm not fully satisfied just yet; honestly, I'm a bit let down by the effort I put into the first part. Maybe I got a little too comfortable after KGF: Chapter 2. But since then, I've made it my mission to turn Salaar 2 into one of my top films. The writing for Salaar 2 is definitely some of my best work.
