After all the excitement and build-up, Mohanlal's film Empuraan finally premiered in theaters on March 27, 2025. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the movie experienced record-breaking pre-sales and marketing efforts, leading to a lively opening in Kerala. Pranav Mohanlal talks about Empuraan 

Actor Pranav Mohanlal, the son of the famous Malayalam star, was part of the audience that caught an early screening of the film on Thursday. Pranav, who usually keeps a low profile and doesn't often attend public events or movie promotions, called the Mohanlal-led film ‘super’ when asked by the media.

Pranav’s mother, Suchitra, who joined her husband Mohanlal at the Kavitha theatre in Kochi, commented that Empuraan 'feels like an English film.’ She described it as a good movie and expressed her enjoyment of it. 

In contrast, actress Mallika Sukumaran, who is the mother of Prithviraj and Indrajith Sukumaran, had a heartfelt reaction after seeing the film's premiere. “This is my first time experiencing the first day, first show of a movie,” shared the Bro Daddy star, expressing her pride in her son's impressive work. When reporters asked about her emotional response, she revealed it was tied to memories of her late husband, actor Sukumaran. 

Suraj Venjaramoodu, a member of the Empuraan cast, shared his admiration for the film. He also voiced his desire to see more high-budget Pan-Indian movies produced in the future.

Empuraan's launch and how it was received

Empuraan hit theaters globally on Thursday, showcasing in various languages like Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film broke numerous pre-sale records but received a mix of reviews upon its release. Audiences have praised its breathtaking visuals and impressive production quality. On the flip side, critics noted that a stronger script could have taken Empuraan to the heights of Lucifer, a film beloved by fans.

Lucifer, which was the directorial debut of the talented actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, can be streamed on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium in Hindi.
