Powder star Diganth has no regrets his film with Vijay Deverakonda did not take off

A few years ago, Kannada actor Diganth was signed up for a film called Hero with Vijay Deverakonda in the lead. The role was tailor-made for Diganth, as it required him to play mentor to an amateur biker. An avid biker himself, Diganth even shot for the film by director Anand Annamalai a few days, and had been quoted as saying that he was most thrilled about Hero because it brings two of his passions, racing and acting together.

However, within days, the film was stalled, never to be given a new lease of life again. And while Diganth would have loved to have seen the film get made and presented to audiences, on a personal note, he has no regrets and here’s why. Speaking to Galatta Plus for the promotions of Powder, a Kannada film that will release on August 23, Diganth said that in the few days he shot for the film, he got experiences that a lot of racers and bike enthusiasts can only dream of.
No doubt, Diganth felt bad that the film didn’t take off again, yet, at the same time, he was happy because he got to train for it prior to the start of shooting. Vijay Deverakonda and Diganth were sent to Coimbatore to train on a proper race track under one of the best racers in the country – Rajini Krishnan, for five days. That, says Diganth, was the best part, which made him “super happy”.
And then, the icing on the cake was that the few days that the team did shoot was at the Buddh International Circuit, which is India’s Formula 1 track. “We got to ride our favourite motorcycles there, so, I really don’t regret not doing the film, but I wish it happens someday,” Diganth said.
Powder, meanwhile, is a film produced by KRG Studios and The Viral Fever, the first of their collaborations. A “new-age film” directed by Gultoo fame Janardhan Chikkanna, Powder, is a fun story revolving around drugs, which also stars Dhanya Ramkumar, Aniruddh Acharya, Gopalkrishna Deshpande and Rangayana Raghu, among others. The film was initially slated for an August 15 release, but was then pushed ahead by a week.
