Post-Pahalgam Attack, Vijay Antony Clarifies His Comments on Pakistanis and Peace

Actor Vijay Antony recently faced criticism for his remarks following the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals and left 20 others wounded. He explained what he meant when he said that Pakistanis also ‘desire peace and happiness’, asserting that his statement was ‘misinterpreted’.

Vijay Antony offers clarification

Vijay posted a new statement on his X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, stating, “For those who have misunderstood my message. ” His statement continues, “The horrific massacre in Kashmir was carried out by a vile group of terrorists, whose sole aim is to fracture the strong bond of unity. The Government of India and we, as Indians, will defend our sovereignty with a strong connection. ”

The performer’s earlier remarks also urged for ‘humanity over hatred’. It stated, “My sincere sympathies to the families who have lost their loved ones in Kashmir. This is a sorrowful time for all of us as Indians. Additionally, we should be worried about the 50 lakh Indians in Pakistan, who together with Pakistanis like us, desire peace and happiness. Let us favor love and humanity rather than hatred. ”

Many comments beneath the post challenged the truthfulness of the number of Indians living in Pakistan and questioned why he thought that Pakistanis also desired peace. Others, however, concurred with him that the responsibility for acts of terrorism should fall on the individuals who committed them, rather than on a specific region.
