Sparsh Shrivastava gained recognition for his outstanding performance in Laapataa Ladies and has also been commended for his acting skills in web series such as Jamtara and Dupahiya. In a recent interview, he discussed how the tremendous success of Laapataa Ladies has made him feel a greater sense of responsibility.

During an interview with India Today, Sparsh was inquired about whether he experiences pressure following the high standards set by his performance in the film directed by Kiran Rao.

‘I feel a responsibility to be associated with good scripts’

Sparsh expressed his commitment to being associated with quality scripts, emphasizing that the primary objective of scripts is to entertain audiences. He stated, "Films, web series, and dance performances are fundamentally designed to provide entertainment. Everything else is secondary. Therefore, for any project I undertake, if it can convey a positive message, that’s wonderful! At the very least, it should bring joy to my viewers, offering them a respite from their daily stresses."

The actor also shared his perspective on dealing with rejection and his distinctive approach to it. 

"I don’t take rejections to heart; in fact, I celebrate them. That’s my personal approach. There was a particular project I was deeply invested in some time ago, and when it didn’t materialize, it did unsettle me for a moment. However, I resolved not to let such experiences affect me. Instead, I treated myself to something special. Now, I embrace my rejections as a reason to celebrate," he explained.

At 25, the actor has built a substantial career in television, gaining popularity through shows like Chak Dhum Dhum, Shake It Up, and Balika Vadhu. When asked about potential biases he might face in transitioning to the film industry, he acknowledged that biases may exist but emphasized his appreciation for his origins. He noted that, lacking formal training from an acting school, he views his television experience as equivalent to a comprehensive education in acting.

Sparsh's future projects

Sparsh's The Amazon Prime series Dupahiya, set in the imaginary crime-free village of Dhadakpur, is a heartwarming comedy that has captivated audiences with its relatable humor, memorable characters, outstanding performances, and the charming essence of small-town life. Starring Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Bhuvan Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi, and Yashpal Sharma in prominent roles, the series is poised for a second season renewal.

Regarding the upcoming season, creators and executive producers Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani expressed their excitement in a press release, stating, “As we prepare for season two, we are thankful for the overwhelming support and enthusiasm, and we eagerly anticipate returning to Dhadakpur. In season 2, we aim to elevate the experience—expect bigger laughs, funnier moments, more excitement, and additional surprises. We are thrilled for viewers to explore what lies ahead in the world of Dupahiya.”
