Plabita Borthakur, renowned for her performance in Lipstick Under My Burkha, is preparing for the debut of her latest project. She will portray the character of Amrita in ZEE5's forthcoming web series, Pyaar Testing. Directed by Saptaraj Chakraborty and Shiva Varma, the series features Satyajeet Dubey in the leading role. Prior to its release, OTTplay conducted an exclusive interview with lead actress Plabita, who expressed her views on the notion of live-in relationships.
Plabita Borthakur on live-in relationships
In a candid discussion with us, actress Plabita Borthakur, known for her role in Pyaar Testing, remarked that the idea of live-in relationships is not widely accepted in our society. She supported her viewpoint with a rationale, stating, "I don't think it is mostly welcome at all in our society. Because in our society, unless you have done the phere (vows) and the marriage... it's like, oh my god, you can't be around a guy. I am exaggerating, but in a lot of families, it is still like that."
Plabita further elaborated that many young women believe it is unacceptable to have male friends or spend significant time with them. She considers this perspective to be relatively novel. According to her, the majority of individuals who are currently married or in their thirties, a decade ago, were part of live-in relationships, yet 90 to 95 per cent of them chose not to disclose this to their parents.
Nonetheless, the actress observes that the current generation is making strides in communicating with their parents, expressing a desire to avoid suffering and to embrace their true selves.
