Petta Rap actress Vedhika: ‘Once I’m crazy about a project, I don’t bother about…’

When actress Vedhika spoke to OTTplay prior to the release of her first OTT project, Yakshini, in which she played the title character, she was excited about all that she got to do on the show and that she was headlining it, among others. Critics, though, did not share her excitement, with the show being largely panned. Was Vedhika impacted by this criticism and has it had an effect on her choice of projects?

Vedhika about Yakshini

“Not at all,” says Vedhika, adding, “See, once I am crazy about a project, the reviews – good or bad – don’t matter. Of course, I realize there is always scope for improvement and to learn, but I never introspect about what went wrong or what could have been done differently. As far as I am concerned, as an actor, I have done my job. There are no regrets at all and I am very flattered and proud that I got to be a part of Yakshini. I would go so far as to say that it is one of my best projects to date.”

The actress adds that with every film or series, at the end of it, you do realize that there are sequences that could have been handled differently. “I got a lot of love for the show so that compensated for the negative reviews. Also, when you’ve done your best and created a fantastic character with a lot of screen space, there is no scope for regret. In fact, if I had to redo it all over again, I would do it, even though it is a lot of effort,” says Vedhika.

Now that she has made baby steps in the OTT space, the actress says that she is looking forward to exploring the medium further. “I am in talks for a Telugu project that’s meant for direct-to-OTT release, which looks positive and should happen shortly. My primary focus will remain theatrical releases, but once in a while, I want to do something for OTT too,” Vedhika signs off.
