Actor and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan, experienced a distressing incident on April 8 when his younger son, Mark Shankar Pawanovich, sustained injuries in a school fire in Singapore. A video captured by a paparazzo and shared on Instagram shows Pawan Kalyan protectively cradling his son as they made their way back to Hyderabad.

In the footage, Pawan is seen holding Mark close, who is dressed in a hoodie and sweatpants, resting on his father's shoulders. Accompanying them is Pawan's wife, Anna Lezhneva, who is seen checking on her son as they walk together. Many fans expressed their support for Mark in the comments beneath the video.
Another circulating video depicts Pawan carrying Mark closely, even while navigating an escalator, with Anna briefly taking their son into her arms. Pawan only set Mark down once they reached their vehicle.

On Sunday, Pawan Kalyan took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his supporters. He shared that Mark was attending a summer camp when the unfortunate incident occurred.
In part of his message, he stated, “I extend my deepest gratitude to you, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, and @PMOIndia for the prompt and supportive response during the tragic fire incident at my son Mark Shankar’s summer camp in Singapore. The assistance provided through the Singapore authorities, coordinated by @HCI_Singapore, was deeply reassuring during this challenging time.”
He also expressed appreciation to various political leaders and friends from the film industry, noting, “In the wake of the unfortunate fire incident at my son Mark Shankar’s summer camp in Singapore, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, concern, and support from around the world,” adding, “Mark Shankar is now stable and recovering well. Your heartfelt messages have truly given us strength.”
The fire incident
On April 8, a fire erupted at a shophouse located on River Valley Road in Singapore. Among those injured in the blaze was 8-year-old Mark, who, along with several adults, sustained injuries. He was promptly taken to the hospital, where he received treatment in the emergency ward for burns and smoke inhalation. Following a short period of hospitalization, he was discharged. At the time of the incident, the actor-politician was engaged in an official tour in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh and was unable to return immediately. Later that day, Chiranjeevi and his wife Surekha traveled to Singapore with Pawan.
