Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and actor Pawan Kalyan visited the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa on Saturday, where he addressed a recent incident involving an attack on a mandal parishad development officer. During his press conference, Pawan Kalyan expressed his discontent with fans who interrupted his political meeting by chanting the title of his upcoming film, ‘OG.’
Pawan Kalyan calls out fans for chanting ‘OG’
Upon learning of Pawan's presence at RIMS, a large crowd gathered. While he was discussing the incident with the media, fans began to vocally chant the name of his forthcoming film. Pawan Kalyan, visibly displeased, interrupted them, gesturing with his finger and expressing his frustration. He remarked, “What is wrong with you people? Are you unaware of the appropriate slogans for the occasion? Please step back.”
In response to the situation, the producers of his upcoming film, They Call Him OG, DVV Entertainment, issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter) urging fans to refrain from such disruptions. Their message read, “Aaayanni Ibbandhi Pettakandraaa… Inkonchem time undhi…. Allaaadiddaam Theatres lo.. (Do not disturb him like that…there’s still time…we will excel in theatres).”
The statement expressed gratitude for the fans' ‘love and affection’ towards the project, assuring them of their commitment to completing the film promptly. It further emphasized, “However, it is inappropriate to chant OG OG at Pawan Kalyan’s political events, disregarding the context and timing. We recognize his dedication to the future of the state as Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and respecting his position is essential.”
The producers appealed for patience, encouraging fans to await the film's release in theatres in 2025.
