Actress Patralekhaa's compelling performance in Netflix's mini-series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack has earned her significant acclaim from both critics and audiences alike. Consequently, she was awarded the Breakthrough Performance (Female) honor at the third edition of the OTTplay Awards held on March 22, 2025.

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is a thrilling six-episode crime drama that recounts the harrowing true story of a national crisis. In 1999, Indian Airlines Flight 814 was seized by terrorists, endangering the lives of all passengers. The series immerses viewers in the intense drama and negotiations that ensued as the Indian government worked tirelessly to rescue the hostages and bring the hijackers to justice.

During the awards ceremony, which was hosted by Aparshakti Khurana and Kubra Sait, Patralekhaa received her award from Shekhar Suman. She expressed her gratitude, stating, "I want to thank Anubhav Sir. He was uncertain about casting me, and it took six months to persuade him. My husband, Rajkummar Rao, is here. Thank you, Raj, for being my loudest supporter." Anupam Kher also extended his congratulations to her.

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack marks Patralekhaa's fifth foray into web series, following her impressive performances in titles such as Bose: Dead/Alive, Forbidden Love, Main Hero Boll Raha Hu, and Teerandaz. In a September 2024 exclusive interview with OTTplay, the 35-year-old actress shared that collaborating with filmmaker Anubhav Sinha felt like a dream realized.

Reflecting on her experience while filming the series, Patralekhaa noted that being confined within the aircraft was quite claustrophobic and frightening, with limited space for movement due to the large number of people present. Additionally, the crew was placed in a simulated hijack scenario, which added to the discomfort.

The OTTplay Awards 2025 witnessed a gathering of prominent figures from India's OTT industry, all coming together to celebrate the theme 'One Nation, One Award.' Esteemed personalities such as Kajol and Jyotika were recognized during this glamorous event, which showcased talent from various film industries, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Co-presented by Real Juice and Kuhl, and powered by Stock Gro, the OTTplay Awards 2025 is a significant event organized in collaboration with HT City.
