Paris Hilton expressed that she was “heartbroken beyond words” after witnessing her Malibu home go up in flames on live TV due to the ongoing fires in Pacific Palisades.
The 43-year-old entrepreneur and activist took to Instagram on Wednesday to share her sorrow, saying, “It’s devastating to sit with my family and watch our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV. No one should ever have to go through this.”
She added, “This house held so many cherished memories for us.”
Hilton was thankful that her family was safe
A post featured a clip from ABC 7, a news station in Los Angeles, showing a reporter assessing the significant damage along the Pacific Coast Highway. The fire, which started on Tuesday, January 7, quickly spread, destroying homes in its path, including Hilton’s.
“This is where Phoenix took his first steps and where we envisioned creating a lifetime of memories with London,” she added.
Hilton has two kids with her husband, entrepreneur Carter Reum. Their son, Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum, was born via surrogate in January 2023, and their daughter, London Marilyn Hilton Reum, arrived in November 2023.
“The loss is just too much to bear, but my heart and prayers go out to every family impacted by these fires. To everyone who has lost their homes, their memories, and their cherished pets. I feel for those still in danger or grieving even bigger losses,” she expressed.
Hilton mentioned that her 11:11 Media Impact Team has started connecting with nonprofit organizations to help those impacted. “We’re dedicated to providing support as quickly as we can and making a real difference for those in need,” she said.
She praised the firefighters and first responders, calling them “true heroes” for putting their lives on the line to protect others, and encouraged residents to “stay safe and follow evacuation orders.”
“Let’s look out for each other and keep our hopes up that these fires will be under control soon. … Give your loved ones an extra hug tonight. You never know how quickly things can change,” she added.
As of this writing, over 11,800 acres have burned, and the fire is still at 0% containment. The LA County Sheriff’s Department has reported that the death toll has increased to five.
