Initially, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had imagined Parineeti Chopra in the role of Geetanjali; however, she ultimately withdrew from the project. Parineeti has now disclosed her reasons for opting for Amar Singh Chamkila instead of Animal.

Parineeti Chopra, accompanied by her husband Raghav Chaddha, made an appearance on Aap Ki Adalat, where she engaged in a conversation with Rajat Sharma. During the discussion, Parineeti expressed that she harbored no regrets about missing out on Rashmika Mandanna's role in the film Animal. She remarked, "To be honest, I believe a higher power had something more suitable in store for me. I was initially involved in that project; nearly all arrangements were finalized. However, I received an offer for Chamkila on the same dates."

She elaborated on her involvement in Imtiaz Ali's Chamkila, describing it as an 'irresistible opportunity.' She stated, "I received numerous offers for songs and had the chance to perform pieces composed by AR Rahman. I was presented with many options, yet I opted for Chamkila. The love, support, recognition, respect, and nominations I have received due to Chamkila are things I do not regret. I am content."
Additionally, the actor's husband shared insights into how Amar Singh Chamkila significantly influenced their relationship. He mentioned that upon Parineeti's return to India, she went straight to Punjab for the film's shooting, which facilitated their frequent meetings and strengthened their bond. He also noted that their visits to Gurudwara Chamkaur Sahib further enriched their connection.
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Amar Singh Chamkila centers on the life of the musician Amar Singh Chamkila and the circumstances surrounding his assassination. Diljit Dosanjh portrayed the lead role, while Parineeti Chopra played his second wife, Amarjot. Both actors received acclaim from critics and audiences alike, and the biographical drama emerged as one of the most viewed films on Netflix India. In contrast, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal was released in theaters, achieving a global box office revenue of ₹900 crore.
