Paresh Rawal, a seasoned actor and ex-BJP MP, mentioned that he holds no grudges against his Bollywood peers who criticize the current government. In a recent chat with The Lallantop, he expressed that well-known stars like Naseeruddin Shah, Aamir Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan can freely share their thoughts without fear of being misinterpreted.
Valuing the views of Naseeruddin Shah, Aamir Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan
Rawal really values what Shah, Aamir, and Shah Rukh think. They’re not trying to hide anything or gain from their advice, so he’s all ears. They genuinely want to help him, and because of that, he’ll listen, think it over, and strive to improve. The difference in their opinions isn’t huge, but he knows they care about him, and he respects that.
Rawal, known for his work on Bhagam Bhag and Uri: The Surgical Strike, has teamed up with all three actors multiple times and really admires Shah for his genuine speeches. Being around them gives you a deep feeling of safety and happiness. If not, you might find yourself looking over your shoulder all the time.
Respect for Naseeruddin Shah even with differing political views
Shah has been a vocal critic of the BJP government for a while now, especially regarding the treatment of Muslims. Despite their opposing political views, Rawal respects him a lot. They’ve worked together in Mahesh Bhatt's 1993 play Sir and later in The Sleuth, where Rawal directed Shah. Shah's first film as a director, Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota, also had Rawal in it. Ratna Pathak Shah, who is married to actor Naseeruddin Shah, talked about their long-standing friendship with Rawal in an interview with The Lallantop last year. Their bond goes way back, even before their political differences got in the way of building strong relationships. She’s determined to keep things friendly, especially for the sake of those she cares about. Ratna and Rawal also appeared together in the films Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na and Hum Do Humare Do.
The work done by Paresh Rawal and Aamir Khan together
Cult classics like Andaz Apna Apna (1994) by Rajkumar Santoshi and Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995) by Mansoor Khan feature both Paresh Rawal and Aamir Khan. Aamir notably spoke out about rising religious intolerance in 2015, even mentioning that he and Kiran Rao thought about leaving the country for the sake of their son Azad. Paresh Rawal emphasized the importance of hearing and reflecting on different perspectives, especially when they come from people he respects.
