It has been reported that Ram Kamal Mukherjee has started working on his new film, Lakshmikantapur Local. The shooting of the film has begun. As per sources, the film has a band of stars playing key characters. There has not been any confirmation from the producers or the directorial team. 

Lakshmikantapur Local has a stellar star cast

The sources confirmed that the film will bring back Paoli Dam and Rituparna Sengupta on the screen. Besides, there are Kaushik Ganguly and Indraneil Sengupta as the key characters. Earlier, it was reported that Roopa Ganguly may be back on screen with this film. However, it has not yet been confirmed if the veteran actress will be there in the film or not. The shooting has started and around 10 days of work has been completed. The next schedule may start after Durga Puja.    

Ram Kamal's Lakshmikantapur Local is based on real-life struggle of hundreds of women

Lakshmikantapur Local delves into the lives of women who take this train to get to Kolkata to make ends meet. Every day, hundreds of women board this train from different villages of South 24 Parganas to come to Kolkata. Many of these women work as domestic help at the elite households of South Kolkata.  

Shubhra Chakraborty has penned the script. Sangeeta Sinha, who is also a part of the cast, will produce the film. Along with her, Pratik Chakraborty of Pramod Films may work as an assistant.  

Ram Kamal has completed Binodiini - Ekti Natir Upakhyan with Rukmini Maitra. The film is yet to hit the theatres. He has also announced another film, Draupadi with Rukmini. Meanwhile, the director took a break from his ambitious period films and focused on something more realistic.
