Mrinal Kulkarni talks about her mother

During a chat with OTTplay, Mrinal Kulkarni revealed she took a break from work to be with her mother during her illness. The actress spoke about losing her mom and revealed how she reacted to her show Paithani's story.

"I lost my mother a few days back. She was very happy. She also heard the story (of Paithani) and she could relate to the story. I am glad that she was happy with the way I led my life, the way I led my creative life, and the roles I chose. In a way, maine unke sapne, jo unhone mere liye dekhe the, vo pure kiye. I took a break from my work for almost a year. I stayed with her during her illness and I tried to make her happy," shared Mrinal.

Mrinal Kulkarni on her character in Paithani

In the same conversation, Mrinal revealed one of the most important things she liked about Gajendra's series Paithani. "The most important thing was my character. Usme jo purity aur simplicity hai — I liked the fact that all female characters in the show are named after rivers. My name is Godavari, my daughter's name is Kaveri and my mother's name is Ganga," she added.

The actress mentioned that Gajendra thoughtfully used the names of rivers for the characters. "The thought behind it is that he says 'a river always keeps flowing and so is the life of a woman. Kitne bhi dukh aur sukh aaye, problems aaye ya kuch bhi ho, vo behti rehti hai and she keeps giving and never takes anything'. And such is the character of Godavari," Mrinal said and signed off.

Paithani is set to premiere on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium on November 15, 2024.
