Paavana Gowda Reflects on Career Choices: "I'll Only Take Roles That Matter"
1 month ago | 5 Views
Paavana Gowda kicked off her acting career on a high note with the 2013 film Gombegala Love, but since then, she has only appeared in about a dozen films. Throughout her journey, she has faced moments of self-doubt and even thought about stepping away from acting. However, she has come to understand that the real worth of her craft is found in being part of projects that fully showcase her acting abilities.
The actress, known for her role in Jatta, recently starred in Gowli and is now one of the leads in Agnyathavasi, directed by Janardhan Chikkanna and produced by Hemanth M Rao. This upcoming film is a murder mystery set in a charming village in Malnad during the late 90s, where serious crimes were rare. The tranquility of this quiet village is shattered when a murder is discovered, unearthing long-hidden secrets.
After its theatrical run, Agnyathavasi will be available on Zee5, as the platform has acquired both the satellite and digital rights.
Paavana Gowda discussing her career journey
Why isn't Paavana more prominent in mainstream cinema? The Aatagara actress shared with Kannada Pichhar, “Once you collaborate with a talented filmmaker on a great project, you naturally want to continue that trend. Over the past two years, I’ve come across many scripts that just didn’t resonate with me. I even reached a point where I thought it might be fine if my last film turned out to be my final one.”
Paavana explains that if her main focus were on building a career, she would have to take on all sorts of films, even those that don’t align with her values. Reflecting on her past roles, she admits that her choices have made her question the overall quality of Kannada cinema. “In the past, I was driven by a survival instinct, but now I’ve decided to only take on projects that I genuinely like. If I can’t find that, then I’m okay with not being in the spotlight as much,” she concludes.

She describes the joy she felt playing her role in Agnyathavasi as beyond words. Based on the film's trailer, it seems that Paavana’s character, Pankaja, and her forbidden romance with Siddu Moolimani are key elements of the story. “I’m really excited for audiences to dive into the world that Janardhan has crafted,” she concludes.
