The ceremony also failed to acknowledge the late actors Tony Todd, Shannen Doherty, and Olivia Hussey, despite honoring numerous others during the 2025 event.
A user on X expressed their disappointment, stating, “Michelle Trachtenberg deserved her flowers!!! #Oscars that’s so sad.” Following the omission, outraged fans took to the microblogging platform to voice their discontent, particularly in light of Trachtenberg's recent passing, which had garnered significant media attention just days prior. The actress, known for her roles in Ice Princess and Buffy, was discovered deceased on Wednesday at the age of 39.

Netizens react to notable late actors being snubbed at the Oscars
A discontented user expressed their frustration on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating, “NO Michelle Trachtenberg??? NO Shannen Doherty??? NO Tony Todd???? I’m SICK #Oscars2025.”
Another disappointed fan lamented, “Oh f**k yall for not including Michelle Trachtenberg. so disrespectful #Oscars.”
Additionally, it was noted that Tony Todd was absent from the memorial montage during this year's BAFTAs. A third user remarked, “Livid doesn’t cover it. rest in peace, king #oscars.”
Todd's omission particularly resonated with horror fans, who viewed it as a slight against the genre. One Reddit user commented, “Somehow, I’m really not surprised. Still, it shows how this awards ceremony continues to disrespect horror. Tony deserved to have his name up there with all the others. The Candyman star, who had more than 100 film and TV credits and whose career spanned genres and decades, was found dead at his home in late November 2024. He was 69.
Meanwhile, the late British actress Olivia Hussey died in December 2024. The Romeo and Juliet star passed away at the age of 73 after battling breast cancer.
At 53, Shannen Doherty also succumbed to breast cancer in July 2024 after years of living with the affliction. The Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed star was first diagnosed with cancer in 2015.
