Oscars 2025 host Conan O'Brien elicited a significant reaction from the audience when he made a pointed remark about rapper Drake, alluding to the well-known rivalry with Kendrick Lamar. During his time on stage, Conan mentioned Kendrick's Super Bowl halftime show and his diss track aimed at Drake, titled "They Not Like Us."

As the 97th Academy Awards ceremony approached its midpoint, Conan took to the stage and remarked, “We have reached the halfway mark of this show. And we all know what that signifies: It is time for Kendrick Lamar to come forward and label Drake a pedophile.” This unexpected quip elicited gasps from the Hollywood elite in attendance, yet it also prompted laughter and some applause.

Conan's humorous interjection alluded to Kendrick's recent performance during the Super Bowl halftime show, where he showcased his diss track "Not Like Us," aimed at Drake. The lyrics of the song suggest that Drake has an inappropriate interest in minors and explicitly refer to him as a pedophile.

Kendrick Lamar and Drake's feud

The ongoing rivalry between Drake, a 38-year-old Canadian rapper and singer who has won five Grammy Awards, and Lamar, a 37-year-old Pulitzer Prize recipient who performed at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 9, stands as one of the most significant conflicts in hip-hop in recent years.

In January, Drake initiated a defamation lawsuit in federal court in New York City against UMG, claiming that false allegations of pedophilia were made in the song "Not Like Us." Notably, Lamar is not mentioned in this lawsuit. Additionally, Drake has reportedly reached a settlement with Texas-based iHeartMedia regarding his ongoing legal issues related to "Not Like Us," as indicated by court records and reported by AP over the weekend.

The Oscars 2025 will be streamed live exclusively on JioHotstar in India.
