In an interview with Zoom, she remarked, “I was inspired by a remarkable film that competed in the same selection at Cannes' Un Certain Regard— a Somali film titled The Village Next to Paradise. It was a beautifully crafted narrative about a grave digger striving to support his family.”

She remarked that what she found particularly beautiful about the film was its portrayal of humanity and artistry. It conveyed a deeply dramatic narrative concerning everyday challenges and minor triumphs, executed in a manner that was both melodramatic and deeply affecting. That film made a significant impact on her this year.
