
Olympian Sharath Kamal Picks Vicky Kaushal to Portray Him in Upcoming Biopic

Vicky Kaushal ranks among the most well-known actors in the industry. He was recently featured in Laxman Utekar's Chhaava, which turned out to be a blockbuster. In the movie, Vicky portrayed the historical figure of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and garnered significant acclaim. Besides Chhaava, the actor has also portrayed real-life characters in Sardar Udham and Sam Bahadur. Now, Olympian Sharath Kamal has recently shared his wish to see Vicky in his biopic.

During a recent conversation with Free Press Journal, Olympian Sharath Kamal was asked whom he wants to see play him in a biopic. He named Vicky Kaushal without hesitation. However, Sharath also shared that he plans to first write a book about his journey before a film. “Writing gives you clarity," he explained. “It helps paint the complete picture. Once that’s done, maybe a movie will happen. But honestly, I don’t know if my sport is popular enough for the industry to pick it up," he said.

For the cast of the film, Sharath had one requirement, which was that the actor needed to be tall. "Therefore, we might consider Vicky Kaushal," he stated.

He is a former Indian table tennis athlete and Olympian, Sharath Kamal, who has recently concluded a 22-year career. The five-time Olympian, a 10-time national champion, and a recipient of the Padma Shri and Khel Ratna awards also won seven gold medals at the Commonwealth Games.
In addition to these achievements, Sharath also represented India as the flag bearer at the 2024 Paris Olympics. As reported by Free Press Journal, following his retirement, Sharath Kamal will continue to support the sport as the Co-Chair of the ITTF Athletes' Commission and an ambassador for the ITTF Foundation.

Vicky, who was recently observed in Chhaava, has Love and War upcoming. Featuring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in the main roles, the movie, helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is scheduled for release in 2026. The film has been characterized as a romantic drama situated within a war setting, potentially illustrating a love triangle involving two army officers.
