By her own admission, Nusrat Jahan believes in celebrating every festival of her choice. He says that religion might be a personal affair for an individual, but the festival is for everyone. She has been celebrating Durga Puja since her childhood. This year will not be an exception. Her social media reflects her celebrating Puja. She said, “The city is going through a tough time, but Ma comes every year. I wish her to bring peace to everyone’s life.” 

Nusrat is vocal against religious discrimination. She lives on her own terms. She was much trolled for marrying a Hindu man, Yash Dasguptaa, or having sindoor. She faced communal wrath for offering anjali or having the puja bhog. But she is fearless. She will do the same this year also. She will do the pandal hopping with her son Yishaan and visit the food stalls.  

Nusrat can’t think of leaving Kolkata during Puja. She said, “In my childhood, I used to go pandal-hopping with my siblings. I miss those. I love seeing the idols. Nowadays, I see many pujas beforehand as the guest. But I asked Yash to take me out one day in the Puja. I have plans to spend a day with the kids. Many friends come to Kolkata from abroad. I have plans with them also.”
