On Tuesday evening, renowned Telugu vocalist Kalpana Raghavendar was admitted to the hospital after being discovered unconscious at her home in Hyderabad. Initial reports suggested that the singer may have attempted suicide; however, her daughter has since come forward to refute these claims.
Kalpana's daughter dismisses reports of mother's suicide attempt
Kalpana's daughter has rejected the allegations regarding her mother's supposed suicide attempt. In a statement to the media, she asserted, “My mother is in good health. She is happy and well. As a dedicated singer, she is also pursuing her PhD and LLB, which has caused her some insomnia. To manage this condition, she took medication prescribed by her physician. Unfortunately, due to stress, there was a minor overdose. I urge everyone not to misinterpret or manipulate the news.”
She also provided an update on her mother's health, stating, "My mother is doing well, and both my parents are content. Our family is in good spirits. She will return soon. This incident was not a suicide attempt; it was merely a slight overdose of sleep medication. Please refrain from spreading or distorting any misinformation."
What happened to Kalpana?
According to reports, the KPHB police station received an emergency call from the apartment committee around 5 PM. Upon their arrival, officers found the door to Kalpana's apartment locked. However, looking through the kitchen window, they observed the singer lying unconscious on her bed. Authorities promptly transported her to the hospital. Medical professionals indicated that she had ingested sleeping pills. Currently, the singer's condition is reported to be stable.
