While Nick Jonas received a lot of love, he was not the first choice to play Seaplane McDonough.
Nick Jonas Wasn't The First Choice?
Yes, you read it right. Nick Jonas was appreciated by many for playing Seaplane in Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. There was so much buzz around him that he was the talk of the town, even more than The Rock at one point, because everyone wanted him to return to play the part. But what if I told you he wasn't the first choice? Tom Holland was. Read on to know everything about this surprising update of the day.
As per a Yardbarker report dated January 3, 2023, Nick Jonas was never in the picture when the initial casting for Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle was being done. It was always Spider-Man star Tom Holland. The makers had even approached the actor, but he had to let the project go because of scheduling conflicts. His loss turned out to be Jonas’s gain, and he was roped in.
The report says that there were no negative reasons behind Tom Holland rejecting the offer to play Seaplane in Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. The reason is said to be that Holland was busy shooting for Spider-Man: Homecoming at the time, which led to him not accepting the Jumanji character because he had no time.
Nick Jonas on Jumanji
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter once about playing Seaplane in Jumanji, the star was asked if he was nervous. He said, “I was about 5 or 6 when I first watched it. I rented it at this place called Blockbuster. (Laughs.) It freaked me out when I first saw it, like it did for a lot of people. And you fall in love with it, and it became a huge part of my childhood. When I read the script, I was blown away by the approach they were taking and the idea of this body swap. Being sucked into the game this time was a really fresh take, and you get to work with these incredible actors. It was a dream scenario.”
