Actor Kartik Aaryan's on-screen rapport with Kriti Sanon in the film Luka Chuppi continues to be celebrated for its humour and appeal. Nevertheless, it is lesser known that Kartik was not the initial selection for the part.
Kartik Aaryan wasn't the first choice
In a recent discussion with Digital Commentary, actor Vineet Kumar Singh disclosed that he was initially considered for a role that ultimately went to Kartik Aaryan.
He explained, “There was a film by Laxman Utekar, written by a friend of mine. When my friend presented the script to me, it did not appear that he was pitching it directly, so I assumed he was seeking my feedback. I took some time to respond, which led them to believe I was uninterested. Upon speaking with Laxman Utekar, I discovered they intended to offer me the role. I was quite taken aback. It was unfortunate that I misinterpreted the situation as merely a request for feedback, as I frequently exchange scripts with friends who are writers.”
Vineet further remarked, “At times, familiarity can create a sense of awkwardness. Because of this, my friend was unable to communicate the opportunity clearly, and it slipped away. The film was originally titled Mathura Lives before being changed to Luka Chuppi. I was offered the role that eventually went to Kartik Aaryan.”
Luka Chuppi, produced by Dinesh Vijan, was directed by Laxman Utekar and written by Rohan Ghuge. Released in 2019, the film centres on a couple who wish to cohabit before marriage, leading them to deceive their families by pretending to be married.
Vineet’s recent work
Vineet, who made his acting debut in 2002 with the film Pitaah, was most recently cast as Kavi Kalash, a poet and a close associate of Sambhaji Maharaj, in the movie Chhaava. Following the release of Chhaava, Vineet expressed his gratitude through a lengthy post on his social media platforms, thanking both his audience and the individuals involved in the film for finally acknowledging his contributions. He stated, “After Chhaava, I am confident that those who appreciated my previous work will not surprise me in person with the endearing question, ‘Sir if you don’t mind… what is your name?’”
