Nora Fatehi Calls Out Bollywood's PR Bias: 'My Career Isn't Over'

Nora Fatehi is getting ready to wow audiences with her new movie, Be Happy, where she stars alongside Abhishek Bachchan. In a recent chat with BBC Asian Network, she shared that some actors hire PR firms to launch campaigns that draw comparisons to her after they appear in dance sequences..

Nora claims that everyone is using her name to promote their stuff

Nora shared her thoughts during the chat about how some folks in the industry see her as arrogant, but she insists it’s just her being honest. She also mentioned the judgment she faces when she aims for lead roles in movies instead of just sticking to music videos. She explained, "I believe everyone should have the chance to do both music and acting, but it needs to be fair for all. What I love about these music videos is that girls are stepping up, showing confidence, and owning their performances. What bothers me is when people start using my name just to sell their stuff."

She went on to say that some actors pay PR firms to leverage her name for their song promotions, adding, "When they want to hype a song, they think, 'Let’s throw Nora into the mix,' and I’m not a fan of that. All these PR agencies are in on it. A new track drops? Suddenly, it’s like, 'Nora’s done for,' or 'She’s no competition.' I know who’s behind this and how much it costs to pull it off. I get tons of PR packages trying to get me to play the same game, but I won’t do it. I refuse to compare myself to anyone or drag someone else down. If a song is going to succeed, it should be because people recognize my talent, not because they want to push someone else aside—that’s just silly."

She also mentioned that she noticed this trend while she was taking a break because of an ankle injury. She confessed that while some of the songs were pretty good and sophisticated, others were just terrible and really lowbrow. A Reddit user posted a clip of the interview, which got people guessing about who she might be talking about.

Fans are speculating about who Nora is referring to

One comment said, "Sharvari, Srileela, Rasha, and some others had posts comparing themselves to Nora, and I noticed some recent comments saying 'Nora’s career is over.'" Another person chimed in, "She’s got a point, that kind of thing happens." Someone else added, "She’s referring to the 'Uui Amma' girl (Rasha)..."

Nora Fatehi has a new movie on the way

Nora is teaming up with Abhishek Bachchan in Remo D'Souza's upcoming dance drama, Be Happy. The story follows a single dad who takes up dancing to help his daughter chase her dream of competing. Innayat Verma is also part of the cast, and the film is set to drop on March 14 on Amazon Prime Video.
