Noah Centineo Confirms Peter Kavinsky Return in XO, Kitty: How He Juggled His Schedule

Noah Centineo, Netflix's go-to guy and the internet's sweetheart, has taken on roles that are pretty much at opposite ends of the pop culture scene. His thriller series, The Recruit, is gearing up for its second season, which is set to drop around the same time as XO, Kitty Season 2.

With Netflix's packed schedule, it all worked out in a surprisingly perfect way. The new season of The Recruit is mainly set in Korea, which is also where the To All the Boys spinoff takes place.

Fans who have already binged the quick and fun new season of XO, Kitty know that Centineo is back as the beloved rom-com star, Peter Kavinsky, making a special guest appearance in this K-drama spinoff led by Anna Cathcart.

While the To All the Boys films focus on the chemistry between Centineo’s Peter and Lana Condor’s Lara Jean, Noah also has a strong bond with Cathcart’s Kitty, who plays the ultimate matchmaker in the trilogy.

The latest season of XO, Kitty brings back that familiar face just when Kitty needs it the most. Given that The Recruit and XO, Kitty were filmed around the same time, it’s a relief that we still get that iconic “I Like Me Better” moment in the new season.

Noah Centineo revealed how he squeezed in a cameo in XO, Kitty Season 2 despite his busy schedule

Destiny had its way of making things happen. Matt Kaplan, the producer of All The Boys and XO, Kitty, along with a buddy from Netflix, reached out to me and said, "Hey, you’re going to be filming in South Korea at the same time we are. Want to come back for XO, Kitty?" Centineo shared during an interview with Deadline about The Recruit Season 2.

So, what did Noah say? He totally channeled his inner Kavinsky, showing he was the perfect Peter to Anna Cathcart’s Kitty. “I said, yeah, anything for Anna. She’s just amazing, super talented, and a total pro. She deserves everything good.”

True fans will remember how Centineo surprised Cathcart at the XO Kitty premiere in LA when Season 1 dropped. That Peter-Kitty moment is still fresh in the minds of many, especially those “recovering from Peter Kavinsky showing up in XO Kitty with ‘I Like Me Better’ playing in the background.” Well put, X/Twitter user.

A character stands out, fueled by a sense of nostalgia while leaving their past behind

Even though he was super enthusiastic about his unique connection to the Netflix version of Jenny Han’s fictional world, he totally recognized the weight of expectations that came with stepping back into Peter's shoes. The character has really taken on a life of his own, embodying one of the most iconic vibes in rom-com history, all thanks to Noah Centineo. “It’s pretty intimidating to revisit Peter and dive back into that role; you really don’t want to let anyone down,” he shared. “The character is pretty established at this point. But honestly, it all turned out great. How could I possibly say no?”

The showrunner of XO Kitty talks about pulling off the impossible while working on the production of The Recruit Season

He totally transformed from a rookie CIA lawyer by night to Stanford student Peter by day with that unforgettable cameo in XO Kitty Season 2 that we all needed. In another chat with Deadline, showrunner Jessica O’Toole opened up about the crazy logistics that went into making that cameo happen. Noah’s only free day during the busy shoot for The Recruit happened to be the very first day of production for XO, Kitty Season 2. But in the storyline, Peter doesn’t head to Korea until a few episodes later.

Still, they had to figure out some new plans. The director for that episode was brought in early to film all of Peter Kavinsky's scenes for the new season first. It turned out to be the perfect way to kick things off. “But then it was probably the best way we could have started the season,” O’Toole mentioned. “He brings such an easygoing, friendly, and warm vibe everywhere. Watching them so happy to work together and seeing their chemistry was a fantastic way to start the season.” Centineo echoed her thoughts: “It was lovely. It was a really positive day, a great day.”

Considering how close this was to not happening, it makes the Peter Kavinsky-Kitty Song Covey moments this season even sweeter. Anna also cherished the memories from that day. “It was so exciting. I look up to him so much, and I’ve learned from him for years, so getting back on screen with him and reconnecting our characters was really special. Noah's the sweetest,” she shared on the TODAY show.

XO, Kitty's second season started streaming on Netflix on January 16, 2025, while the Noah Centineo-led season 2 of The Recruit drops on January 30.
