Actor Mohanlal has disclosed that he shared the trailer for his forthcoming film L2: Empuraan with Amitabh Bachchan. In an interview with News18, he also recounted Rajinikanth's response after viewing the trailer, noting that both actors "genuinely appreciated" it.

Reflecting on the praise received from these legendary actors, Mohanlal remarked, “It’s not about competition; it’s about appreciation. I sent the trailer to Amitabh Bachchan saab. Rajini sir called me, and we had a conversation. He exclaimed, ‘What have you done? Oh my god!’ Their appreciation for our trailer was sincere and not motivated by a desire to outdo our work.”

“The investment we made in the film is evident, which is crucial. As a producer, Rajini sir could easily recognize and appreciate this aspect. He mentioned, ‘You all have invested so much in the film, and I can see that.’ His compliment was heartfelt and genuine, not merely a tweet praising the trailer without substance. It came after he had watched it,” Mohanlal added.

About L2: Empuraan

Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, L2: Empuraan is among the most eagerly awaited films of 2025. In addition to Mohanlal, the cast includes Tovino Thomas, Abhimanyu Singh, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Manju Warrier, among others. The first installment, Lucifer, which premiered in 2019, achieved remarkable success.

According to the trailer, the sequel explores a socio-political narrative, centering on Mohanlal's character. The trailer is filled with intensity, showcasing a cinematic experience where Mohanlal exudes a commanding presence as Khureshi-Ab'raam. The film will be available not only in Malayalam but also in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu.

This project is co-produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan under their respective production houses, Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies. L2: Empuraan is scheduled for release in theaters on March 27. This film represents the third collaboration between Mohanlal and Prithviraj, following their work on Lucifer and Bro Daddy.
