Nitanshi Goel captured everyone’s attention with her role as Phool in Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies. In a recent chat with Zoom, she shared how she drew inspiration from the emotional scenes of Deepika Padukone, Kiara Advani, and Alia Bhatt to nail her performance in the film.
Reflecting on her early days of filming, Nitanshi mentioned, “Kiran ma’am was incredibly supportive. Right from the start, we had to tackle some intense scenes. The very first one was a breakdown scene that I had to kick off. I thought to myself, if I can’t pull this off, it’s going to be super awkward.”
She went on to describe how she suggested a few tweaks to the scene to Kiran Rao, and to her delight, the director was totally on board. Nitanshi also shared that Kiran placed a lot of trust in her for that scene, and she was determined not to let her down, so she spent the entire night prepping for it.
Nitanshi Goel reacts to the emotional videos of Deepika, Kiara, and Alia.
I spent the whole night searching for Kiara Advani’s crying scenes, Deepika Padukone’s emotional moments, and Alia Bhatt’s tearful performances. How do they pull it off so well? I wanted my breakdown to be just as impressive. Then, after listening to some emotional songs in the morning, something clicked during the take. When I caught my reflection in the mirror, I just started crying, and Kiran ma’am had to tell me to stop.
A Reddit user posted the clip, and people had some thoughts on Nitanshi’s comments. One user said, “These are the right people to look up to for crying scenes. Kiara and Deepika are amazing.” Another added, “She has great standards and an even better acting process.” Someone else chimed in, “Kiara is a pro, and Deepika is next level.”
