Nikkhil Advani had a massive cast in Salaam-E-Ishq. The 2007 movie featured big names like Salman Khan, Govinda, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Priyanka Chopra, and Vidya Balan. In a chat with Mashable India, Nikkhil shared his experience of filming the song and juggling so many actors. He mentioned that Salman Khan wasn't keen on an early morning shoot, so he had to think of a new way to handle the situation.

Nikkhil's comments

Nikkhil shared in the interview, “We kept Salman up all night since he insisted he couldn’t make it at 5 in the morning. He was like, ‘Either hang out with me, and I’ll crash at 10 AM!’ So, we stayed up, filmed, wrapped it up, and then he finally got some sleep. For me, it’s always been about getting things done fast.”

Collaborating with newcomers

Nikkhil, who has collaborated with both big-name stars and fresh talent in his films, shared his insights on selecting the right actor for a role. When host Mukesh Chhabra asked him how he makes those decisions, Nikkhil explained, “Usually, when actors come through a casting process, folks like you [Mukesh Chhabra] already filter out the less suitable candidates. Take Chandan Roy Sanyal in D-Day, for instance; you just see him and think, ‘wow!’ I have complete faith in this process, just like I trust my Director of Photography. I want to have that same level of trust in my casting director.”

Nikkhil's most recent film was Vedaa, featuring John Abraham and Sharvari in the main roles. He also created the series Freedom At Midnight, a gripping political thriller that delves into the pivotal moments of India's independence in 1947, with Sidhant Gupta portraying former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
