Nidhhi Agerwal on Upcoming Films: Passionate About "Hari Hara Veera Mallu" and "The Raja Saab"
2 months ago | 5 Views
Nidhhi Agerwal became the talk of the town when Puri Jagannadh’s iSmart Shankar hit theaters in 2019. Despite mixed reviews about the film, she definitely made her mark. After that, she worked with actors like Silambarasan TR, Ravi Mohan, and Udhayanidhi Stalin in Tamil cinema, but she chose to skip other Telugu projects, only appearing in Mahesh Babu’s nephew Ashok Galla’s debut film, Hero, in 2022.
In a laid-back chat with Hindustan Times, Nidhhi shares her experiences working with stars like Pawan Kalyan and Prabhas, and she reflects on how she feels that everything in her life has been guided by ‘divine intervention’ and more. Here are some highlights.
Nidhhi Agerwal talks about her selective approach to choosing scripts
Nidhhi seems to have a cautious optimism about her career. She acknowledges that as an actor who is not from a film family, it's been a big deal for her to work in films. The last few years have taught her patience, and she's learned to take a broader view of things.
Nidhhi says being a female actor is a challenge, as it's easy for one to be written off. She's been selective in the projects she's taken on, choosing to focus on films she believes in, like the period drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu and the horror comedy The Raja Saab.
She knows that as a female actor in a commercial space, visibility is everything. While her male counterparts may be able to do more films, Nidhhi says she's had to be more selective, as doing too many films could also lead to criticism. It's a delicate balance, but Nidhhi seems determined to stay true to her craft and the projects she believes in..
She’s getting ready for her roles and a whole lot more
Nidhhi is confident that her hard work and patience will eventually pay off. “I landed my first Telugu film (Savyasachi) just as Baahubali was taking off. I really believe in divine timing, so I trust that God has a perfect plan for me. I’ve got two Telugu films coming out in Hindi and other languages; things always seem to work out in the end,” she shares with a smile.
When she talks about her projects, you can really feel her enthusiasm. “I joined the team when Krish was directing HHVM, and I have a lot of respect for him. This is my best role so far. I’ve trained in horse riding and classical dance. I know ballet and Kathak, but I picked up a new dance style for this. It feels like a dream come true, I’m so lucky,” she says, adding, “I usually get scared by horror films, so I was surprised by how much I wanted to be part of The Raja Saab. It’s the most enjoyable set I’ve ever worked on, and it’s become a regular thing to burst out laughing while going through the scenes.”
Nidhhi gives a shoutout to Pawan and Prabhas for being the kind of co-stars that push her to improve. “Pawan sir is incredibly focused on set; nothing distracts him when he’s filming. Regardless of the noise or chaos around him, he always delivers a perfect take. I really want to pick up that skill. And Prabhas is honestly the kindest person I’ve ever encountered. Working with him is amazing, and I’m super excited for the audience to check out what we’ve created together,” she concludes.
