Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter accused of sexually assaulting woman, giving her STD that caused cancer: Lawsuit
Penly, The fourth woman to accuse Carter of sexual misconduct claims that she and the pop singer engaged in a "sexually intimate relationship," meeting approximately every few weeks during her visits to Los Angeles from December 2004 to February 2005.
According to the lawsuit, the two had consensual sexual encounters three times before the situation deteriorated. Penly asserts that she requested Carter to use a condom, but he allegedly refused, leading her to believe he was free of sexually transmitted diseases. She also stated that she had never engaged in unprotected sex with anyone prior to him.
Penly alleges that when she visited Carter's apartment in early 2005 with the intention of watching movies, he told her that the only reason for her presence was for sex. The lawsuit further claims that the singer "forcefully" assaulted her on his bed, despite her repeated refusals.
At that time, Carter reportedly "failed to use protection to prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted infections" to Penly, as stated by the outlet. He allegedly urged her to keep the incident confidential, claiming that no one would believe her. However, he later apologized, and she returned to see him, during which he allegedly sexually assaulted her again.
The lawsuit contends that Carter "infected the plaintiff with various sexually transmitted diseases, including human papillomavirus (HPV), which is known to cause serious health issues such as cervical cancer."
As a result, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 cervical cancer and underwent multiple treatments, leading to "severe emotional distress, physical pain, medical complications, intimacy issues, and other complex trauma," as detailed in the lawsuit. Penly is now seeking damages exceeding $15,000 and is requesting a jury trial due to Carter's "willful and conscious disregard" for her safety.
