In the festive spirit of the holiday season, NewJeans has demonstrated a commendable act of generosity. Following their recent announcement regarding the conclusion of their exclusive contracts with their agency, ADOR, the group has contributed a substantial amount to assist children and adolescents who are caregivers for their family members. This donation was made in honour of their dedicated fanbase, known as Bunnies.

NewJeans has made a significant contribution to supporting children and youth.

The K-pop group has contributed 100 million KRW (approximately 70,000 USD) to support children and youth who are caregivers for their family members. These young individuals often assume household responsibilities and begin working at an early age due to the illness, advanced age, or disabilities of the adults in their families.

In a statement released on December 19, the childcare organization ChildFund Korea remarked, “Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein donated 100 million KRW to alleviate the caregiving burden on children and adolescents caring for their families at the end of the year, assisting them in achieving balance in their lives and concentrating on their personal development,” as reported by AllKpop.

The funds from their donation will be utilized to provide essential household items and support to 30 families throughout Korea, covering living expenses, housing, education, medical care, and fostering self-sufficiency through career and employment assistance.

NewJeans members express their perspectives on charitable contributions.

The members of the group discussed the initiative, stating, “We aim to foster the healthy development of children and adolescents who are responsible for their families by providing essential assistance and promoting their autonomy. We are committed to remaining attentive to these children, enabling them to discover and pursue their aspirations.”

Shin Jun Wong, the director of the Social Contribution Cooperation Division at ChildFund Korea, remarked, “We aspire for this support to alleviate the challenges faced by children and adolescents caring for family members, thereby allowing them to concentrate on their personal development and independence. We will persist in offering various types of support to ensure that more children can thrive in a nurturing and encouraging environment.”
