Mimoh Chakraborty, the son of renowned Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty, is set to make his debut as a lead actor in Telugu cinema with the film "Nenekkadunna." The film features Sasha Chettri, known for her work with Airtel, as the female lead. It is produced by Maruthi Shyam Prasad Reddy under the KBR banner, with Madhav Kodada directing for the first time. As the film approaches its release this Friday, Mimoh engaged with Telugu media to share his thoughts. Below are key points from his interview.

Welcome to Tollywood, Mimoh Chakraborty!

Thank you! I am thrilled that "Nenekkadunna" is set to release on February 28. My childhood was enriched by watching South Indian films. My father, Mithun Chakraborty, owns a hotel in Ooty, where I had the opportunity to immerse myself in Telugu and Tamil cinema.

What was your father's reaction upon learning about your Telugu film?

He was very pleased and encouraged me by saying, “Give it your all.” He believes that language should not hinder an actor's performance. I am currently working on a Telugu film, and I would be open to opportunities in Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Bhojpuri cinema as well. My father was delighted about my entry into Telugu cinema and advised me to focus on my craft without worrying about the language barrier.

Did Mithun Chakraborty offer you any specific advice?

He emphasized the importance of approaching any task with complete honesty. He advised me to maintain integrity not only as an actor but also as an individual. If I ever feel uncertain about a project, I should trust my instincts and refrain from participating.

There are a limited number of films that focus on journalism. What aspects of this narrative resonated with you?

This film is primarily aimed at a female audience. Upon hearing the storyline, I recognized that it transcends mere themes of women's empowerment or female journalism. While it does convey a significant message, it also serves as an engaging entertainment piece. It features music, impressive action sequences, and captivating scenes. The film effectively illustrates the importance of female journalists being self-sufficient.

How did you come to be involved in Nene Ekkadunna?

Prior to my selection, Sasha Chettri had already been cast. A friend of mine was acquainted with the production team. When they were looking for an actress for my role, my friend put my name forward. Subsequently, director Madhav Kodada traveled to Mumbai to share the story with me. Upon hearing it, I immediately agreed. I believed this film was not only meaningful but also an excellent opportunity for my debut in Telugu cinema.

You portrayed the lead character in this film. If offered a chance to play a villain, would you accept?

Absolutely! I am eager to take on villainous roles. I believe I would excel in such characters. As an actor, I prefer not to confine myself to specific roles. If presented with compelling characters, I am also open to comedic and supporting roles.

Please share your thoughts on director Madhav Kodada and the producers.

Madhav Kodada has previously directed several short films, but this marks his debut in feature filmmaking. He invested considerable effort into this project, dedicating four years to its development. The film's successful release is largely attributed to his hard work. He received strong support from KBR. I have collaborated with esteemed directors like Vikram Bhatt, who would demonstrate performances for us. Madhav Kodada adopts a similar approach; he explains the scenes and then allows the actors the freedom to interpret them.

What is the genre of the film, and how many songs does it feature?

As it falls under the thriller category, the number of songs is limited. I contributed one song to the soundtrack. The film maintains a thrilling atmosphere from beginning to end, culminating in a shocking twist. When I first encountered the storyline, I was unable to foresee the twist. The underlying message is also quite commendable.

Have you seen any Telugu films that include your father? How would you describe your relationship with him?

The Hindi film Oh My God was adapted into Telugu as Gopala Gopala, correct? Pawan Kalyan, the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, portrayed the role of God in that adaptation. My father participated in that movie as well. I have viewed both the original and its remake. Currently, he is involved in Prabhas’ Fauji. To the public, he is a superstar; however, to me, he is simply my father. I would characterize him as a practical parent. Our relationship transcends that of a typical father and son; we share a friendship.

Who are your preferred Telugu actors, and what upcoming projects do you have?

I admire Pawan Kalyan, Prabhas, and Thalapathy Vijay, as well as Rajinikanth. I aspire to collaborate with all the prominent stars. At present, I am working on the sequel to Haunted, which I originally made 13 years ago with Vikram Bhatt. Additionally, I am engaged in Khakee Season 2 for Netflix.
