Neeraj Chopra, the two-time Olympic medallist, recently tied the knot with Himani Mor, a former tennis player and sports management graduate. On Sunday, the 27-year-old athlete shared dreamy pictures from their intimate mountain wedding, which was attended only by close family members.

Neeraj’s uncle, Surendra Chopra, revealed that the Tokyo Olympics gold medallist met Himani in the USA. After seeking his family’s approval, Neeraj decided to marry her. "Both Neeraj and Himani are athletes and know each other. They met in the US, and Neeraj knew best who he wanted to spend his life with. Once he got permission from the family, the wedding plans were set in motion," Surendra Chopra told Aaj Tak. He further described it as a "love plus arranged marriage," with both families fully supportive of the couple’s decision.

The three-day wedding celebrations, held from January 14 to 16 in Himachal Pradesh, were planned by Neeraj's uncle. Even the officiating priest was unaware of Neeraj’s identity. True to the family’s principles, no dowry was accepted. Instead, the family took only ₹1 as a symbolic 'shogun.' "We have always been against the practice of dowry. Our family doesn’t believe in it," Surendra Chopra shared.

Himani visited Neeraj’s village before the wedding and stayed there for 14 hours as part of pre-marriage rituals. Surendra Chopra also explained the timing of the wedding, noting Neeraj’s busy schedule. "Neeraj has competitions lined up for the next two years, so if the wedding didn’t happen now, it would have been postponed for two years. It wasn’t a grand event, just a small family gathering with 65-70 people present," he said.

The destination wedding in Himachal Pradesh provided the families with three days of celebration in the mountains. "It was a great time with the family. Neeraj is a simple, down-to-earth person. We had a lot of fun, and it was quality time together," Surendra Chopra added.
