Two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra recently tied the knot with Himani Mor in an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family. The gold medalist from the Tokyo Olympics has shared additional insights regarding his discreet marriage and the circumstances surrounding their union.

Neeraj disclosed that his wife hails from a family deeply rooted in sports. Her parents were both kabaddi players, and her brother is a wrestler. He mentioned that the marriage took place in January 2025, as he is preparing for an upcoming competitive season and aims to optimize his training.

"I have known Himani Mor for some time; she comes from a sports-oriented family. Her parents participated in kabaddi, and her brothers are involved in wrestling and boxing. She herself was a tennis player but shifted her focus to academics due to an injury. Our families frequently interacted, and we connected as fellow athletes, leading us to this moment," Neeraj Chopra stated in an interview with India Today.

"Many individuals, including friends and family, were aware of my marriage. The intention was to marry first and subsequently inform the public. With the competitive season approaching, I felt it was the right time to marry. However, I want to emphasize that we plan to celebrate with a larger gathering in the near future," he added.

'People from village understood the secrecy'

When inquired about the reactions of his village community following his secret marriage, Neeraj indicated that the majority comprehended the necessity for discretion.

He further expressed his intention to host a celebration with the villagers in the near future.

"The residents of my village recognized the reasons behind the confidentiality of my marriage. I have communicated with all of them. Once Himani and I are available, we will organize a celebration with everyone," stated Neeraj Chopra.

For those unfamiliar, Neeraj Chopra's spouse, Himani Mor, is from Sonipat, Haryana. She is currently engaged in her Master's studies in Science in Sports Management and Administration at the McCormack Isenberg School of Management in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Regarding Neeraj Chopra, he is distinguished as the first Indian to secure an Olympic medal in athletics and the second Indian athlete to achieve an individual gold at the Summer Games.

At 27 years of age, he is the current world champion and was the victor of the Diamond League in 2022. He previously earned gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and is a two-time gold medalist at the Asian Games.
