Neena Gupta's path in Mumbai commenced in the early 1980s when she relocated from Delhi. In a recent interview, the actress disclosed that she never chose to rent accommodations. Rather, she would sell her apartment, contribute additional funds, and invest in her subsequent residence. During one of these transitions, Neena was required to stay with her aunt, who unexpectedly asked her to vacate in the middle of the night, leaving Neena and her daughter without shelter.
Neena looks back
In a discussion featured on the YouTube channel Housing.com, Neena disclosed that she had secured a three-bedroom flat in a new project by a builder. After selling her previous home and allocating the proceeds to the new property, she found herself in a temporary financial bind, necessitating a move to her aunt and uncle's residence.
Reflecting on her experience, Neena recounted, “I relocated to my aunt’s home, where I had previously stayed. I often spent time there, returning to my own place only to sleep. Since Masaba was quite young at that time, my aunt assisted in caring for the baby. However, one night, she unexpectedly asked me to leave. I was left with no funds and nowhere to go with a baby.”
Neena went on to explain that her uncle later had a change of heart and offered her the opportunity to stay in an unoccupied flat in Juhu.
She continued, “Before moving in with them, I had informed both of them that I would be without a home and asked if they were comfortable with me staying. They agreed at that time. However, my uncle felt remorseful and arranged for me to move into his mother-in-law’s house in Juhu, which had been closed for two decades. The place was filled with cobwebs and appeared dilapidated. I took it upon myself to clean the house while caring for a small baby. Unfortunately, I was soon asked to vacate that residence as well.”
At that juncture, Neena found herself without accommodation. Consequently, she reached out to the builder to whom she had already made payments, explaining her urgent predicament. She requested a refund to enable her to purchase a readily available home. The actor revealed that the builder returned her money in full, “without deducting a single penny.”
Subsequently, Neena acquired a house in Aram Nagar and settled in with her daughter, Masaba.
